Web analytics is the monitoring and analysis of site visitor statistics and site usage patterns as well as visitor demographics. Web analytics can also include campaign analysis, which involves tracking the original source of a visitor and their statistics. Using web analytics to track campaigns can answer questions like “How many and what percentage of visitors are coming from our magazine ad?” or “Which of our ads or campaigns resulted in the most customers compared to the cost of the ad or campaign?” Some ISPs statistics programs provide some of this information, but to get the full functionality, the use of a third-party program or service is required. While we do not suggest this as something you need to implement right away, we usually recommend it for anyone with multiple marketing efforts. |
